The metallic seed is one of the clues in The Notebook that The Rangers retrieve from The Serpentines.

Description[]

The seed is about the size of an index finger and quite flat, with a metallic sheen to it. In episode 24, doctor Mendeleev performs some tests on it to determine that it is mostly metal. In episode 180, Sumutnyerl uses druidic magic to make a blue bloom sprout from the seed.

History[]

The Rangers find the seed on the very back page of the notebook, next to the phrase "and I guess this is it". It is in the section that deals with replicating the nervous system and the exact origins of the seed appear to have been deliberately obfuscated. The notebook mentions an enormous amount of work and effort spent on finding seed traders and meeting one such seed trader near the coast of Norway, along with the phrase "Finally. What are the chances of finding two?".

The party visits Kew Gardens to consult Mendeleev, who they suspect may know more about the seed. Unfortunately, despite saving him from a terrifying plant monster beneath the Kew mansion, he is not able to offer any help on identifying the seed, suggesting that the dwarves of Svalbard might be able to help more.

In episode 180 they learn that the seed is from the Garden of Yerlik, in The Northern Wastes. It was stolen by Nikola Tesla when Sumutnyerl allowed him to visit the Garden. Taking a seed from the garden is considered far worse than desecrating it. (RQG 181)
